General Motors to Launch Chevrolet Beat LPG in January 2011

General Motors India Ltd. plans to bring in the much awaited Beat LPG in January next year. The company has geared up all the production lines for the make of this small dual fuel Chevrolet car and the speed lovers are keeping a close watch on the running costs so that they could choose from the smaller Spark LPG and the brand new Beat LPG.
Chevrolet is very much likely to set new levels in sales and customer satisfaction as it promises a 3 year zero maintenance for its small car range.

The newly inaugurated Chevrolet Flexi-Line Power train Plant at Talegaon will soon start off with the production of the petrol engines followed by that of the small diesel engines. These diesel engines will power the Beat LPG. Beat is merrily going to be powered by a one litre 3-Cylinder common-rail turbocharged engine which comes from the Fiat-GM UniJet (JTD) range. The experts think that Beat LPG will produce around 65 bhp.

The pro of the plant is that it can produce a mix and match of any type of engine as per the requirement and in any numbers the company needs. At present the company has set a target of producing a mammoth 1.6 lakh engines. Well this will be only half tale told as the plant has an additional capacity of producing 1.4 lakh engines more if the need arises.

At the moment the Talegaon car plant has a capacity to produce 1.4 lakh units with the expansion capacity of 1.6 lakh units if needed. So the engine plant and the car plant are mated merrily to produce 3 lakh units each annually, post expansion. General Motors India Ltd. also wants to use this novel engine facility as the export base for the new small diesel engine as this is the unique facility in the world today which is capable of producing this particular variant of the JTD engine.
