Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. planning to launch a sedan in India. The new sedan is likely to be based on the versatile 'V' platform. Tokuyama further added that the company is expecting that the new sedan will receive a good response form the Indian customers.
The model will be launched in India by end of 2011. Nissan recently launched a new C-segment car in China named Nissan Sunny. Nissan has plans to launch a sedan (Sunny) in India by the end of the year. The sedan will be launched in Thailand, but with a different name, it will be called Almera. Nissan Sunny was a popular name in China for a long time, but the brand discontinued by Nissan seven years ago. Almera again another Nissan brand came in to picture to replace Sunny in Thailand market.
The officials from Nissan had claimed that the sedan will have different names in different locations. Nissan is likely to launch Almera in Thailand by Q3 of 2011.
The Sunny/Almera sedan is equipped with a HR15DE 1.5 litre engine with dual injectors and is mated to the new-generation Xtronic CVT transmission in China. However, the new Almera in Thailand will be powered by a 1.2 ltr engine to benefit government 's Eco-car program.
