Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, today announced the launch of the new Audi A4 – its longest selling sedan. The new Audi A4 with its newly acquired emotional appeal reaches out to a younger and much wider customer base. The new Audi A4 offers considerable advantages over its predecessor and combines powerfully dynamic design with outstanding handling characteristics. Priced from INR 2,733,000 onwards (Ex-showroom Maharashtra), this sporty and stylish new model is now available at Audi dealerships across the country.
“The new Audi A4 with its progressive design, efficient driving dynamics and class defining interiors will take the driving experience to a new paradigm for all our customers. The young and sleek looks will appeal to the younger generation who have arrived in life and are looking to affirm their status and positions among their peers.
The engines with their superior technology will give better fuel efficiencies while the new and improved lines and interiors will certainly turn heads and add to the comfort and luxury that one expects from Audi. The outstanding sales performance in the first quarter of 2012 of its predecessor encouraged us to pre-pone the launch of the new Audi A4”, said Mr. Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
Audi continues to be the fastest growing luxury car brand in India. The brand with the four rings continues to be the market leader in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi RS5 and now Audi TT and in the luxury SUV segment in India with Audi Q5 and Audi Q7. The launch of the new Audi A4 will strengthen Audi’s A range of limousines and will further consolidate Audi’s leadership position in the segment.
The A4 is Audi’s bestseller for 39 years now and in its eighth generation. The A4 with more than 10 million vehicles sold since 1972 has a long and most successful history in the Audi fold. In the first quarter of 2012, the Audi A4 outsold its core competition in India and emerged as the best-seller in its segment.
The A4, with its elegance, sportiness and emotional appeal, forms the centerpiece of the Audi brand. The new look further accentuates the horizontal lines at the front end. The engine hood is more arched, the upper corners of the single frame grille are tapered, and the cross ribs and the Audi rings are highlighted three-dimensionally. The redesigned bumpers are striking with their angular air inlets, their revised grilles and the flat front fog lights.
The fuel efficiency on an average has improved by 10 percent on the new Audi A4. The 1.8 TFSI offers a fuel efficiency of 15.64 km/l (ARAI) – fuel efficiency has improved by 25 percent compared to its predecessor. The 2.0 TDI offers an efficiency of 16.55 km/l(ARAI), thus ensuring best in class fuel efficiency. The new Audi A4 is the first Audi which offers the fully integrated Audi Car Life product, which combines financing, service plan, insurance and extended warranty.
Audi Car Life is a high convenience product for elite customers, which integrates finance, insurance, service plan and extended warranty. With Audi Car Life, customers can enjoy maximum convenience as these services can be bundled at one single EMI rate. Audi Car Life, launched with the new Audi A4, will be offered eventually with the Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7.
While Audi scored in total 27 awards in 2011-2012, most features of the seven times award winning Audi A8 and Audi A6 are now available in the Audi A4 such as LED Daytime Running Lights, Driver Information System, Xenon Plus Headlights, Audi Music Interface and Efficiency increase (Energy Recovery). The drive system of the new Audi A4 sets new standards. All engines are turbocharged direct-injection systems; the recuperation system is standard throughout and the start- stop system is standard in petrol variants.
Audi offers a whole kit of state-of-the-art infotainment systems for its A4 series. The concert radio with eight speakers is standard, while the MMI system with voice dialogue, color monitor and DVD player forms the top of the line. “We have been steadfast in expanding our network so as to achieve the target of selling at least 8000 cars by the end of this year. It is this ability to identify potential markets and tap them with right products that has helped us maintain our position as the fastest growing luxury car brand in India. Audi has bagged 27 awards for our class defining products such as the Audi A8, Audi A7 Sportback and the Audi A6 and this not only reinforces our brand’s appeal but also the prominent position that we have taken in India’s luxury car market.
I am confident that our impressive sales performance where we achieved the No.2 position in the first quarter coupled with the recent launch of the new Audi A4, Audi TT and the imminent arrival of the Audi Q3, plus our fast expanding dealer network will ensure that Audi maintains its position as the fastest growing luxury car brand in India”, added Mr. Perschke. Audi has achieved remarkable sales performance in India with sale of 562 cars in April 2012 – a growth of 50 percent over the same period last year (April 2011: 375 cars). The brand with the four rings grew by 43 percent during Jan to April of 2012, delivering 2831 vehicles as compared to 1986 vehicles delivered during the same period last year. Audi India plans to expand its network to 25 dealerships by the end of 2012 from its existing 18 centres. Audi recently opened new showrooms in Coimbatore, Delhi West and Nagpur. Last year, the luxury carmaker opened new showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Bhopal, Lucknow and Mumbai South.
