Mercedes-Benz has all reasons to smile and celebrate as its ready to wheel out the 50,000th car, manufactured at its Chakan plant on January 28, 2014. Therefore, the company has decided to memorialize this special moment by launching a special edition of its iconic car C-Class in the form of ' C-Class Grand Edition'.
Mercedes-Benz assembles most of its cars locally such as the C-Class, ML-Class, GL-Class, E-Class and S-Class in order to keep their costs down. Now, the company is eyeing to manufacture its cheapest vehicle A-Class within the country, seeing the overwhelming response of people and ever rising demand, since the time it was launched in India. Currently, it is bought enroute CBU.
The Chakan plant of Mercedes-Benz is capable of producing 10,000 units annually. The company is working extensively to escalate its capacity to 20,000 cars a year and by end of this year, it would be enrolling the aforementioned quantity of cars. A hefty sum 850 Crores is being put in to make it larger. Additionally, the company also established its 'Center of Excellence' in the Chakan plant only a few days back.
