Launched back in 2011, Nissan Sunny has been in the market for over two years and it now requires a makeover to sustain in the growing mid-sized sedan segment. Keeping this in mind, the Japanese carmaker is all set to launch the facelifted Sunny in the country.
The vehicle will be unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, where Maruti will also showcase its new sedan (SX4 replacement).The new Sunny will have significant upgrades to both the exterior and interior. Its front facade will feature a new grille, headlamps, restyled front bumper and lots of chrome enhancement. Inside the cabin, the sedan will sport a upmarket and better quality plastic and additional storage spaces. If media reports to be believed than the sedan will get the new top-of-the line variant which will house a reverse camera and airbags.
Nissan Sunny facelift will carryover the same engine options- the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. While the diesel mill will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the gasoline model will be paired to either 5-speed manual or with a CVT unit.
The updated Sunny will carry the same interior space with best-in-the-class legroom for rear passengers. With significant changes, the company expect to give a new life to its Sunny sedan in the growing C-segment. It is also expected that Nissan could also opt the Fiat path, where it might introduce a price cut version of the Sunny.
