Land Rover, in an awe to escalate its market share, has launched/unveiled its gigantic SUV 2014 Range Rover Evoque with its newly developed 9-speed automatic gearbox. The company has added some exorbitant features to the SUV in order to make it more premium and up-market.
Cosmetics are untouched inisde the cabin, instead majority of modifications are done with the mechanicals. The SUV retains the same rotary gear-shift and the same feature of changing the Terrain Response with exactly same buttons. As far as exteriors are concerned, Land Rover hasn't made any commendable change, except for the addition of more color shades and an option of alloy wheel design. The USP of vehicle is certainly the self-shifting nine-speed ZF transmission— codenamed as 9HP which is among the world’s first 9-speed units fitted to a passenger car with an ultra-fast response time.
2014 Range Rover Evoque would be offered with two different powertrains - 2.0-litre petrol and the 2.2-litre diesel. Both these engines would be coupled with company's exceptional 9-speed automatic transmission. The company claims that increase in number of gears would contribute to a larger extent in distributing the torque evenly. Additionally, this 9-speed gear box possesses four overdrive gears as compared to the two which were previously indulged in the 6-speed gearbox. It subsequently results in greater fuel economy and lower CO2 emission. It is a single clutch epicyclic gearbox with the traditional torque converter too.
