Indian auto market is the second fastest growing auto market globally and now the new auto biggie Renault wishes to enjoy a meaty chunk of this progressive car market.
Renault, the French auto maker is looking forward to manufacture a new small car on the same lines of Nissan Micra. The French giant is not a new name for India but now it is looking forward to capture the Indian auto market by itself in collaboration with Nissan Motors. It is expected that the new hatchback car model will be launched in the beginning of 2012 in the Indian auto market. But the French auto giant is still tight lipped about the small car.If looking at the domestic auto sector, the small car segment holds 70 per cent of the collective passenger car sales. Looking at 2010, various auto biggies have invested in the small car segment for the first time, like Nissan introduced Nissan Micra in July, 2010 and Volkswagen the German car marvel launched Volkswagen Polo in April 2010.
Currently Renault India, is not present in India but now will invest in this lucrative auto market. The French car manufacturer plans to launch 5 new car models. It is being learned that in 2011, Renault will introduce Renault Fluence, the premium saloon and Renault Koleos, the sports utility vehicle (SUV). Rumours are doing the rounds that the sedan will come in May 2011 and the SUV will hit the Indian shores by October, 2011.
Ashish Sinharoy, the Vice President of Communications and Corporate Affairs at Renault India Pvt. Ltd was quoted by a leading news agency saying that Renault Fluence is slated for launch in the mid of 2011 however the SUV Renault Koleos will be introduced by October. The rest of the cars will be launched in 2012, which will commence from the launch of the hatchback.
