Toyota Fortuner bookings reopen

Toyota Motors, the Japanese auto maker that closed the bookings of its highly popular SUV, Toyota Fortuner due to huge demand and supply backlog, has reopened the SUV's bookings yet again.

Launched in August 2009, company stopped takings bookings for Toyota Fortuner a month later due to a high booking number of 5000 units which the company had trouble to supply. Though the company announced the reopening of bookings in May, 2010, it did so in July and halted it again in August, 2010. It was because during that month, the company received a booking of 3004 units and the total order backlog came to around 6056 units.

It seems the company is prepared this time to cater to a large demand. Also, any company cannot afford to hold back demand owing to the fierce competition in the market.
Another highly popular sedan from the company's stable, Toyota Etios has started with its production at its second plant in Bangalore. The car within 15 days of its launch had clocked 15000 bookings and the customers can now finally take this Japanese wonder home, now that the mass manufacturing has begun. The sedan would give a tough competition to Tata Manza, Mahindra Logan, Maruti Swift Dzire and the likes.
The company would also launch its first ever hatchback, Toyota Etios Liva (unveiled in December with the sedan) in April, this new year. Toyota has announced the localisation of components in Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva to be 90 per cent from the present 70 per cent by 2013 which would not only make the availability of parts easy, it would also stabilize the price and keep the car on a high pedestal in the auto market.
