Honda that launched the Vezel Urban SUV in Japan on 19th of December, has received an outstanding response from the buyers. Within the span of 24 days from the launch, the company bagged bookings for 24,900 Vezel in the market. Based on Honda's Urban SUV Concept, the Vezel is the company's first ever compact SUV.
Earlier it was speculated that this SUV will also make its way to India, but with the regular depreciating rupee value and high cost has forced the manufacturer to drop its plan. In Japan, the Vezel is available in two different set of powertrains. It is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. While, the hybrid model gets the newly formulated sport hybrid i-DCD powertrain, which combined a 1.5-litre petrol mill with a 30bhp electric motor. Both variants are available in 2WD and 4WD drivetrains.
The Vezel Urban SUV will be launched in the European markets by the mid of 2014, while the US launch likely to happen by the early 2015.
